Since its inception in 1949, the mission of the ABAA has been to promote ethical standards and professionalism in the antiquarian book trade, and to encourage the collecting and preservation of antiquarian books and related materials.
Membership in the ABAA cannot be obtained simply by paying a fee or signing an agreement. Before being considered for membership, booksellers must prove that they are established, knowledgeable, and of excellent reputation. Prospective members must be sponsored by current members, and undergo a rigorous screening process. ABAA members must adhere to the most rigorous Code of Ethics in the Antiquarian Book Trade, which means you can buy from an ABAA dealer with confidence

 
ILAB-LILA (International League of Antiquarian Booksellers) is the most prestigious international organization for antiquarian booksellers, speaking for twenty nations and 2000 leading booksellers throughout the world. Its emblem stands for integrity and professionalism in the rare book trade worldwide.

The International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) is dedicated to ensuring the highest ethical standards and quality among fine print dealers, and to promoting greater appreciation of fine prints among art collectors.

The standards for election to membership are extremely stringent, and require a high level of expertise, ethics, and professional integrity, taking into account years in business and the quality of art offered for sale.
